Mould Remediation

Damp and mould in homes has become a key topic for housing associations in recent years, especially with the introduction of ‘Awaab’s Law’. It’s essential to keep both your tenants safe, as well as keeping your staff safe when carrying out mould remediation. Take a look at our articles below to find out more about mould remediation, and how PWS can help to protect your staff with appropriate PPE.

Changes are being made to the Social Housing (Regulation) Bill, introducing ‘Awaab’s Law’.

The government has committed to a rapid review of existing guidance on the health impacts of damp and mould, and the new rules will allow tenants to hold landlords accountable by law if they fail to provide a decent home.

To find out more about what this change in legislation means for housing associations, and how the introduction of PWS’ Mould Kits can help to protect your staff, read our Mould Management Health & Safety Update.

Working with our housing association customers, we have supported them to keep staff safe when carrying out mould remediation with expert advice on respiratory equipment, as well as our specialist mould kits.

Many of the chemicals used during the removal of mould, including Chlorine, produce harmful gases. It is, therefore, essential for employers to provide their staff with appropriate respiratory equipment, as well as implementing measures to mitigate exposure to harmful gases. You can read more about safe mould remediation by clicking here.

Please speak with our team if you require more information on choosing the correct respiratory equipment, or would like to enquire about our mould remediation kits.

PWS understands that providing safe homes for tenants to live in is a priority for all housing associations.

It’s important to understand the causes and dangers of mould to effectively implement long-term resolutions to damp and mould in tenants’ homes.

We aim to inform, guide, and support our housing association customers with safe and effective mould remediation. You can read more in depth about mould in our ‘7 Essential Mould Facts for Housing Associations’ white paper.
